The Telling is NOT tattle-telling program is designed for elementary school aged children. The purpose of this program is to teach and train these students to understand the importance of "telling" if they see or hear something that is concerning in regards to one of their classmates. It is crucial to explain to the students the difference between "telling and tattle-telling" in order to promote comraderie between the children and decrease bullying..
A group of committed and trusted teachers in the elementary schools would volunteer to be part of the Student Advocate Committee where students can come to them with concerns. The teachers could then contact the parents of the students keeping the report anonymous. The report could be done verbally, or alternatively, report forms could be available throughout the schools and students could drop them off at designated mailboxes.
